Positions Available:

 

 

Packer/Inspector

The Packer/Inspector inspects and packages material and high value-added tubular products according to customer specifications. Shift is M-TH 5AM-3:30PM

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits and incomplete weld
  • Touch up product as needed using hand sander, pencil grinder, polish or other finishing device process
  • Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly
  • Verifies specified dimensions of product or material
  • Rejects defective parts and marks type of defect on part, container of parts or inspection tag
  • Packages product according to specifications (folding, wrapping, inserting enclosures, closing and sealing containers and applying labels or identifying data) in order to meet required shipments
  • May use a forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to inspect parts for cosmetic defects
  • Develops ways to improve and promote quality
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is important
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines

Project Engineer

The Project Engineer manages new product development efforts utilizing sound project management skills, engineering principles and specialized intellectual knowledge in accordance with Leonhardt Manufacturing processes and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the LMC Sales department to obtain RFQ information and project requirements
  • Works independently or in a group setting to outline the deliverables of each assigned task or project to complete requested quote packages
  • Works with LMC Purchasing department to ensure raw material, packaging and purchased component RFQ information is complete to obtain outside pricing information
  • Utilizes lean manufacturing methodology to design tooling, fixtures and all required items needed by manufacturing to meet customer requests
  • Works with LMC approved tooling vendors to obtain hard tooling costs for all outside purchased tooling required
  • Works with internal LMC toolmakers to determine best practices and methods for tooling, fixtures and required items needed by manufacturing to meet customer requests
  • Compiles all RFQ information into a finished quote package to be reviewed by the LMC Sales and Engineering quote team
  • Develops final tooling and fixture designs utilizing CAD software in accordance with LMC manufacturing standards and best practices
  • Works with both internal and external tooling personnel to have required tooling and fixtures fabricated in accordance with quoted requirements of the project
  • Collaborates with LMC Manufacturing to outline manufacturing processes and product flow for each new product development effort
  • Collaborates with the LMC Quality department to ensure each new product development effort meets our ISO 9001 quality procedures and customer requirements
  • Works with Manufacturing to schedule, lead and ensure all new tooling sample/FAI runs are performed in accordance with the quoted times and processes of the product development effort
  • Ensures all needed materials, tooling, fixtures, purchased components and final packaging are due to be in place prior to the hand off of projects to manufacturing
  • Works with manufacturing supervision and employees to ensure a smooth first run of new products which may include training and hands-on assistance
  • Works with Engineering and Operations leaders to achieve cost reduction goals
  • Identifies, presents and implements approved continuous improvement ideas and methods into LMC manufacturing of products and services
  • Serves as a resource to Operations on continuous improvement activities and corrective and preventive action problem solving

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Three (3) years or more manufacturing experience
  • New product development experience
  • Lean manufacturing experience or training
  • Manufacturing quality systems and ISO experience
  • Formal project management training or experience
  • Knowledge of engineering specifications as they relate to metals, plating, coatings, welding, etc.
  • Ability to create and use Gantt charts
  • Understanding of processes related to quoting, engineering changes, drawing control and tooling and capital purchases
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work individually or in a group setting to achieve company goals and initiatives
  • Willingness and ability to work with strict timeline adherence at all times
  • Experience with Auto-Cad (Auto Desktop/Mechanical Desk Top & Inventor) or the willingness and ability to complete training of CAD software use
  • Knowledge of GD&T and 3-2-1 datum schemes
  • Participates in an annual personal business plan for individual skill set improvement and training
  • Ability to react and succeed in an ever-changing manufacturing environment
  • Member, leader, subordinate and colleague within the LMC Engineering department
  • Ability to work within approved budgets, develops, presents and implements approved cost saving measures, contributes to profits and revenue of the company

Machine Operator (1st Shift)

Leonhardt Manufacturing is looking to fill a 1st Shift Machine Operator position (M-TH 5AM-3:30PM). The Machine Operator operates machines requiring a normal amount of skill to change the shape or conditioning of new materials.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined part to specifications using the “In Process Check Sheet” (Green Sheet)
  • Checks for any quality alerts in their respective areas (Light Booths)
  • Follows the production control board for run quantities
  • Keeps area clean and clutter free
  • Recognizes and able to make minor adjustments to program to correct part fitment or appearance
  • Performs quality checks as per the “In Process Check Sheet” (Green Sheet)
  • Follows daily operating plan for the machine which includes safety and mechanical checks

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous manufacturing experience a must
  • Previous CNC experience is preferred
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is important
  • Ability to meet and exceed productivity standards
  • Observes and adheres to policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates dependability
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test

 

MIG/TIG Welder (1st Shift)

Leonhardt Manufacturing is looking to fill a 1st shift Welder position, M-TH (5AM-3:30PM). The welder must be able to weld aluminum, stainless steel and carbon steel as specified by the layout, welding diagram, work order or blueprints.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand
  • Performs MIG and/or TIG weld based on project needs
  • Sets up components for welding according to specifications
  • Determines the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements – can weld to desired requirements
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications
  • Tests and inspects welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws i.e. to pass leak check and MT check
  • Chips or grinds off excess weld or spatter
  • Sands or touches up weld with sander and/or grinder
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • 1+ years’ experience with MIG and TIG welding preferred
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of products
  • Ability to identify and measure material
  • Ability to produce quality products consistently
  • Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities as well as dependable work ethic
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, calipers, tape measures and angle gauges
